Firefighters Master Vehicle Safety in Oberallgäu Training
The Oberallgäu district fire inspectorate and Oberstdorf fire department recently hosted the 17th Vehicle Safety Training. The two-day event focused on road and off-road traffic safety, with participants successfully earning their fire service driver's license.
Held at the Nordic Center and a gravel pit, the training was made possible by sports facilities in Oberstdorf and the construction company Brutscher. District fire chief Dominik Haslach and inspector Sebastian Wachter led the sessions, guiding drivers to understand their fire engines' capabilities.
Exercises included a slalom course, navigating narrow alleys, parking in tight spaces, reverse driving, and a braking test from 40 km/h. Participants also tackled steep ascents, descents, uneven terrain, curves, and potholes in the gravel pit.
Several vehicle drivers successfully completed the training and earned their fire service driver's license. The Oberallgäu district fire inspectorate wishes all participants a safe return from future deployments and exercises.
