The Leipzig Gutenberg School and the Vocational School Center Eilenburg have been named as finalists in the Saxony School Garden Competition, a prestigious event that celebrates the best school gardens in the state of Saxony, Germany.

Both schools have impressed the jury with their innovative and well-maintained school gardens, securing them a place among the ten finalists. The jury, consisting of experts from the Saxon State Ministry for Environment and Agriculture, the Saxon State Ministry for Education, the Saxon State Broadcasting, and the Saxon State Association for Horticulture, will visit the schools in May to select the three state winners.

If successful, the Leipzig Gutenberg School and the Vocational School Center Eilenburg will each receive 3,500 euros in prize money. The state winners will be awarded an additional 2,500 euros, making their total winnings 6,000 euros.

The Saxon School Garden Competition is not limited to a specific type of school or garden design. It encourages schools of all kinds to participate and showcase their unique approaches to gardening and environmental education. The schools are not required to submit any additional information or projects for the final round of the competition.

The Saxon School Garden Competition is taking place in the Leipzig region, with the ten finalists vying for the top spots. The competition does not specify the prize money for the third place winners, but the recognition and the opportunity to showcase their school garden to a wider audience is a significant benefit for the finalists.

The Leipzig Gutenberg School and the Vocational School Center Eilenburg are looking forward to the jury's visit in May, hoping to be crowned the state winners of the Saxony School Garden Competition. Their school gardens, a testament to their commitment to environmental education, are a credit to their institutions and the Leipzig region.
