Discussion Series at Your Institution: Design Talks

In the vibrant world of design, the Indian Institute of Art Design (IIAD) is hosting a series of enlightening webinars called Design Talks. These monthly sessions aim to provide students with valuable insights into industry trends, technological innovation, sustainability, ethics in fashion, and more.

Among the esteemed speakers is Rohit K. Gulati, the founder of Incubis, a leading architecture and design firm in India. With over 22 years of experience as a master planner, architect, and designer, Mr. Gulati has left an indelible mark on the industry. His notable works include the iconic 100m long "Mudra'' installation for the new T3 airport terminal in New Delhi, and successful projects for companies like Tata Housing, Essar Group, and GE Healthcare.

Another inspiring figure is Sonia Manchanda, a design strategist, graphic designer, and designpreneur with over 20 years of experience in the design industry. She is a founding partner at Spread Design + Learning, a company that integrates design knowledge, business, and design practices. One of her significant works is "The Dream: in Project", an open innovation and design research project.

The textile and fashion industry also has its representatives in the Design Talks. Nohar Nath, the founder and CEO of Kiabza, a re-commerce platform for pre-owned branded products, brings his 20+ years of experience to the table. Mr. Nohar Nath successfully ran Kishco Group's global business, which is primarily based on recycling/upcycling of producer and consumer textile wastes of all types.

Sujata Biswas and Taniya Biswas, the founders of SUTA, a fashion design house that produces ethnic designs with a contemporary twist, are also part of the Design Talks. Despite not being from the textile industry, the two sisters started SUTA in 2016 and now provide a wide range of handmade products made by more than 1400 weavers.

It's worth noting that Design Talks feature design experts from both India and the International design sphere. This global perspective ensures a comprehensive understanding of the design world for the attendees.

In the realm of architecture, Bidisha Sinha, a senior associate at Zaha Hadid architect with over 20 years of experience in the architectural domain, is another notable speaker. She has been recognised with several prestigious awards such as the RIBA London award for her work at the Science Museum in London and the Stirling Prize for her contribution to Evelyn Grace Academy (2010).

The Indian Institute of Art Design's Design Talks provide a unique platform for students to learn from these design luminaries, fostering a rich exchange of ideas and experiences that can shape the future of design. With each webinar, the series continues to grow, offering valuable insights and inspiration to all who attend.
