Deichstadt to Capital Journey: A Scenic Voyage Across German Landscapes
Firing Up Knowledge: Neuwied Youth Council Torches History in Berlin
Four electrifying days, endless tidbits of wisdom: The Neuwied municipal youth council set foot back home mid-May, decked out with novel viewpoints after their fiery journey through Berlin. From May 15 to 18, they were submerged in politics, history and camaraderie.
The adventure started on day one, with an exhilarating tour of the capital’s core - igniting memories of the Alexanderplatz that led to the scintillating Brandenburg Gate. That's where they gathered to discuss the flaming history of the Berlin Wall and its searing impact on life in East and West. They continued their trail through the following days, with visits to the Wall Museum at the charred East Side Gallery, the scores of flames at the German Bundestag, and the searing Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. The embers left behind at the Holocaust Memorial sent shivers down their spines.
Besides the scorching program, there was also time for thoughtful discussions and shared experiences. "These late-night chats over the campfire brought us closer as the Neuwied youth council and highlighted our exceptional teamwork. Overall, this blazing trip to Berlin was a profoundly enriching experience for each one of us," shared youth council member Derin Khamoka nostalgically.
