Coursera Brings Learning to ChatGPT with OpenAI Integration
Coursera has become one of the first learning platforms to integrate with ChatGPT, thanks to OpenAI's new Apps SDK. This move allows users to access educational content directly within the popular AI chatbot.
The Apps SDK enables developers to create interactive experiences within ChatGPT. Users can now access Coursera's educational videos, course information, and links through natural language requests or automatically surfaced suggestions during conversations.
OpenAI plans to accept developer submissions later this year and introduce a directory for users to discover approved apps. Moreover, developers will have the opportunity to monetize their apps using the new Agentic Commerce Protocol for in-chat purchases. This expansion is part of OpenAI's strategy to grow the app ecosystem later this year, with plans for business, enterprise, and education rollouts.
Meanwhile, the ETIH Innovation Awards 2026 are open for entries from organizations across the UK, the Americas, and internationally. The awards celebrate excellence in global education technology. Greg Hart, President and CEO of Coursera, believes this integration with ChatGPT will enhance learning experiences and make educational content more accessible.
