Cornerstone laid for fresh kindergarten and school buildings in Bremen Neustadt
Groundbreaking Ceremony Marks Start of Construction for New Children and Family Center in Bremen Neustadt
Last Friday, the groundbreaking ceremony took place for the new construction of the Children and Family Center KuFZ Fluesseviertel and the expansion of the Inge-Katz School in Bremen Neustadt. The project, which is scheduled for completion by the end of 2025, will create space for up to 250 children and accommodate a total of 150 students and ten teaching staff.
The new Children and Family Center will be located on the ground floor of the new building and will house six groups, including two nursery groups and four elementary groups. To enhance the learning experience, the center will offer additional facilities such as a movement room, differentiation rooms, and open areas that can be divided by partitions, shelves, or curtains to create different learning landscapes.
The building will be constructed in passive house design, promoting sustainability and energy efficiency. This means that the low energy demand of the passive house is due to the consistent avoidance of heat losses. The building will also feature a green roof, an elevator, and a photovoltaic system.
Among the project participants present at the groundbreaking ceremony were representatives from Immobilien Bremen, KiTa Bremen, and the Inge-Katz School. Petra Zschüntzsch, deputy managing director and pedagogical director of KiTa Bremen, explained that the new Children and Family Center Fluesseviertel will intertwine its pedagogical work in the new building and create an additional twenty kindergarten places.
The Inge-Katz School, the vocational school for social pedagogy and household management, will be expanded on the first floor of the new building. The school rooms will be designed mostly as open areas for more flexibility.
The total costs of the project amount to 14.7 million euros. The building will have a separate entrance at the other end of the structure. The project will promote sustainability and energy efficiency, as the building will be constructed as a passive house.
While there are no specific publicly detailed information about this project in major architectural or municipal sources up to 2024, the construction of the new Children and Family Center Fluesseviertel and the expansion of the Inge-Katz School is an exciting development for the Bremen Neustadt community.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the new construction signifies the start of a project that encompasses not only the Children and Family Center KuFZ Fluesseviertel but also the expansion of the Inge-Katz School. This project, falling under home-and-garden (the construction of a new building) and education-and-self-development (the expansion of the Inge-Katz School), aims to create a lifestyle that fosters learning and growth for up to 250 children and 150 students.
