City's 'Weeks of Demenz' Offers Dementia Awareness Events

The city is gearing up for a comprehensive programme of events focused on dementia awareness and support, running from September 12 to 28, 2025. Kicking off the programme on September 12 is the ILWIA Action Day 'Living in Old Age' at the Fish Market. This event will feature a dementia simulator, quiz, and information. The following week, on September 16, a conversation offer for relatives will be held at the Meeting Point Church. Meanwhile, the Greifswald Zoo will host a dementia-sensitive zoo visit with an animal show and coffee near me on the same day, with registration required and a 7 Euro fee.

The City Library will play host to several events. On September 25, a workshop for school classes on 'Nietzsche and Dementia' will take place. Additionally, an exhibition on literature, games, and activity ideas titled 'Who Rests, Rots' will be displayed from September 19 to October 3. The Neighborhood Help Association WGG will hold a lecture on 'Dealing & Communication with People with Dementia' on September 25, accompanied by coffee and cake.

The programme also includes training and advice. The 'Relatives' Training Autumn 2025', led by an unnamed organisation, will provide support for family members. An exchange with the Senior Council and Care Support Point will occur on September 17 at the House of Encounter. The Town Hall will host a lecture titled 'Perspective Change - Experiencing Dementia' followed by an exchange on September 23.

In a lighter note, 'Brain Jogging with coffee and cake' will take place on September 24 at the Multi-Generational House Action Sunshine.
