Celebratory drinks during Senior Week's conclusion and take-home food items
As college seniors prepare for their final days on campus, they often find themselves caught up in a whirlwind of memorable events and unexpected moments. Here's a personal account of one such student's senior week experience.
Sharing Senior Moments with Coworkers
The writer, who started working at the Cat in the Cream coffeehouse in their first year of college, found themselves surrounded by familiar faces during senior week. Alongside their coworkers, they tested out the drinks at the senior garden party, sharing laughter and reminiscing about the memories they had made throughout the year.
After the commencement ceremony in their third year, the writer celebrated with their coworkers from the Cat in the Cream. The celebration continued with an incredible brunch on the grass in one of the coworker's backyards, followed by tacos and conversations with the family of their coworkers.
Farewells and Friendships
The writer had many special moments with their friend group, from brunches and birthdays to bike rides and movie nights. However, senior week also brought bittersweet goodbyes. The writer had a sad farewell with two of their friends from the friend group, who were going to 3-2 engineering in their final year of college.
Despite the sadness, the writer felt gratitude for the uncertainty and change they experienced during their college years. They met their friend group during international orientation week in their first year and shared countless memories since then. Naps on the couch in their house, laughter at the memories made throughout the year, and the support they gave each other—these moments will stay with them forever.
Looking Ahead and Embracing Uncertainty
As the writer prepares for their final year, they wonder where life will take them a year from now. They are currently working on their Honors Projects for the summer, but they also plan to make the most of their senior week. The writer hopes to remember to try all the mimosas at all the garden parties, eat all the tacos, and organize all the picnics at whichever porch they find.
The writer encourages rising freshmen to embrace uncertainty to make the most of their senior week. They've seen recent graduates look back at their college memories with smiles, cherishing the unexpected experiences and special traditions they encountered during their time on campus.
From last-minute trips and senior pranks to heartfelt reflections and bonding moments, senior week offers a unique opportunity for students to reflect on their college experiences and prepare for the next chapter of their lives.
