Capital Drug Prevention Strategies: Insights into Drug Addiction Prevention Methods in the Capital

In the heart of the city, a wave of change is underway as volunteer efforts to combat drug abuse continue to thrive.

Work has begun on creating a documentary film dedicated to anti-drug themes. The film, titled "DIE GRUBE," is expected to be completed and available in the ARD Mediathek from November 8, 2024, with directors Christian Becker and Oliver Schwabe at the helm.

As part of the digital monitoring of the internet space, systematic identification and analysis of over 1,000 internet links containing drug content were carried out. All identified materials were entered into the specialized "CyberNarkoRegistry" database and sent to authorized bodies for subsequent blocking.

The educational part of the project launched the JAUAP podcast, which quickly gained popularity among youth. The first episode reached over 5,259 views, and the second featured renowned TV host Dana Nurzhigitova.

Volunteer activities are not limited to digital efforts. Excursions to a cynological center and a military unit are planned to allow schoolchildren and students to get closer acquainted with the activities of law enforcement agencies and foster a sense of civic responsibility and respect for state institutions.

A basketball tournament among college students is planned, aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle and engaging youth in physical activity. Additionally, a flash mob involving around 500 people is planned to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.

The City Volunteer Staff, in collaboration with the Anti-Narcotics Department of the Police, organizes monthly events to paint over drug advertisements in areas without video surveillance. Since the beginning of this year, around 20 such events have been held in six districts, eliminating approximately 50 advertisements for banned substances.

Notable participants in these events include blogger Nurkeldy Dragon Kerdesh, actor Tolepbergen Baissakalov, Vice-President of the Astanа Kickboxing Federation Yernar Omar, President of the Astanа Automobile and Motorcycle Federation Anatoly Bondar, and volunteers from the "Astana Youth" Resource Center.

Branded products such as caps, hoodies, bags, notebooks, and informative brochures containing key messages on drug prevention and promoting a healthy lifestyle were produced. A survey was conducted among at least 1,000 representatives of the capital's youth as part of the ESIRTKISIZ ELORDA project.

An educational mobile court session for youth is planned to increase legal awareness and understanding the consequences of violating drug-related laws. Furthermore, 200 informative and educational events are planned for this academic year as part of the ESIRTKISIZ ELORDA project, reaching at least 2,000 young people.

At least 10 in-depth interviews were conducted with young people in difficult life situations to gain a deeper understanding of the challenges they face and how best to support them.

The thriving volunteer efforts to combat drug abuse in the city serve as a testament to the community's commitment to a healthier, safer future for its youth.
