Awarding of Elbasy Medals to Outstanding Students

In a grand celebration held in Almaty to mark Independence Day, the city's most exceptional students were recognised with the prestigious Elbasy Medal and El Maktanyshy Prize. These awards are presented annually to top-performing students who have demonstrated outstanding achievements in various academic and extracurricular competitions.

The Elbasy Medal, named after Nursultan Nazarbayev, Kazakhstan's First President, is awarded to students who have shown exceptional contributions to education, science, culture, and social activities. Recipients are typically those who excel in national academic competitions, Olympiads, scientific research contests, and leadership roles.

The El Maktanyshy Prize, which translates roughly as "National Pride" or "Pride of the Nation," is given to students who bring honour to Kazakhstan and Almaty through their achievements. These students often excel in international and national contests in mathematics, science, literature, arts, and sports.

The selection of the Best Students in Almaty is based on academic excellence, leadership qualities, social activity, and success in national and international competitions. Awardees typically include top high school and university students from Almaty who have demonstrated superior performance in their fields.

This year, the city's most gifted students received the country's highest educational awards. Among them was Vladimir Zhuk, a physics and mathematics teacher in the city, who was awarded the El Maktanyshy Prize for his significant role in mentoring dozens of young prodigies. These students have consistently won top prizes at prestigious competitions for several years.

One of the students, Tamirlan Bekhtimirov, was awarded the Elbasy Medal for winning the silver medal at the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO). He prepared for the competition with his coach, Satuhanov Kanat, and solved tasks similar to those that would appear in the competition.

A total of 90 students were awarded the Elbasy Medal, making it one of the best results in the country. In addition to the medals, winners and laureates received cash certificates, honorary diplomas, and modern tablets.

Akim Bakytzhan Sagintayev presented the awards at the event, as reported by Almaty.tv. The "EL UMITI" project, while not explicitly related to the Elbasy Medal project, also took place during the celebrations. However, the specific tasks prepared or solved for the "EL UMITI" project were not disclosed.

For the past 7-8 years, students from the "Almaty daryny" centre, directed by Ainur Kasymbek, have consistently shown the best results in intellectual competitions. The centre's students are a testament to the city's commitment to fostering academic excellence and encouraging high achievement.

Vladimir Zhuk finds it rewarding to work with talented children, despite the challenges. He expressed his gratitude for the recognition, stating that it motivates him to continue nurturing the city's future leaders. Tamirlan Bekhtimirov, another recipient of the Elbasy Medal, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to represent Almaty on the international stage and his commitment to continuing his academic pursuits.

In conclusion, the Elbasy Medal and El Maktanyshy Prize serve as a testament to the extraordinary achievements of Almaty's most talented students in various fields. These awards highlight the city's commitment to fostering academic excellence, encouraging high achievement, and recognising the efforts of both students and mentors.

In continuation of the celebration, Vladimir Zhuk and Tamirlan Bekhtimirov demonstrated that education-and-self-development and learning are not confined to the classroom. Vladimir, a physics and mathematics teacher, and Tamirlan, a student who won the silver medal at the International Mathematical Olympiad, thrive in academic pursuits and excel in extracurricular competitions, embodying the combining spirit of education-and-self-development and learning.
