Arnsberg, Meschede, and Sundern Launch Innovative Youth Art School by 2025

Arnsberg, Meschede, and Sundern are set to launch an innovative inter-city youth art school by 2025, aiming to expand their cultural education landscape. The project, funded by the Ministry of Culture and Science of North Rhine-Westphalia, will run for three years and bring decentralized cultural youth work to the region.

The 'Jugendkunstschule kunsthaus alte mühle e.V.' from Schmallenberg will lead the founding phase under Beate Herrmann's guidance. The project will involve networking local artists from Arnsberg, Meschede, and Sundern, with activities starting this year. Interested artists from these cities are invited to participate by contacting the Schmallenberg-based organisation.

Arnsberg and Meschede will cover approximately one third of the project costs as their own contribution. The 'Kunstmobil' (KUMO) will be deployed on site to promote the idea of the youth art school in city centers and districts. By 2025, the youth art school will offer a 30-hour cultural participation program, developed in collaboration with local facilities, associations, and artists. The first offers will be rolled out next year based on a pedagogical concept.

While no specific registrations have been announced yet, the inter-city youth art school project is expected to foster cultural participation and artistic expression among children and youth in Arnsberg, Meschede, and Sundern. The project's success relies on the collaboration of local artists, facilities, and communities, supported by the Ministry of Culture and Science of North Rhine-Westphalia.
