Annual College Fair Hosted by MCPS for High School Juniors

The annual Montana College Fair, held at the University of Montana, offers high school juniors a valuable opportunity to explore various college options and make informed decisions about their future. This year's event showcased a diverse range of colleges from across the country, including many from the Pacific Northwest and the South.

In addition to traditional colleges and universities, the fair also included stands for the army, airforce, and postal service, providing students with a comprehensive view of their post-high school options. The event is particularly beneficial for juniors who are deciding where to apply for college, as it offers a chance to discover new possibilities and backup options.

For Montana residents, the Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) scholarship is an attractive option. This scholarship is available to students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher who reside in a western state and attend participating colleges in the west. The WUE award provides around $13,000-15,000 in financial aid, making it a cost-effective pathway for Montana students to attend public universities in participating western states with significantly reduced tuition compared to standard non-resident rates.

To be eligible for the WUE scholarship, students must meet certain requirements. They must be a resident of one of the WUE states, including Montana, apply and be admitted as a new freshman at a participating WUE university, request the WUE tuition rate before enrolling for the first term, maintain legal domicile in the home WICHE state (Montana) at application time and during participation, and maintain full-time enrollment and good academic standing to keep the scholarship.

High school juniors interested in the WUE scholarship should plan to explore and apply early to participating universities, confirm each university's specific process for WUE application and contracting, and prepare to maintain enrollment and academic standards for scholarship renewal.

The Montana College Fair is an excellent opportunity for students to make decisions for themselves and take charge of their future. With a wide variety of colleges, universities, and scholarships on offer, it's an event not to be missed for any high school junior in Montana.

At the Montana College Fair, students can discover online education opportunities focused on education-and-self-development, such as online-learning platforms offering various courses. Furthermore, for those considering college options beyond traditional institutions, the fair also includes representatives from the rented ROTC programs.
